Abstract

The present paper highlighted different constraints perceived by tribal livestock owners under different livestock management practices. The study was conducted in purposively selected Banswara district of Rajasthan which has highest tribal population in the state and is situated in the southern – most part of the state. A total of 120 tribal families were selected from 8 selected villages of 2 tehsils namely Bagidora and Kushalgarh. The quantitative and qualitative data were collected through interview schedule, discussion, observation and available secondary sources. Lack of grazing pasture (90.33%), repeat breeding problem (85.83%), high cost of feed/fodder (81.67%), poor production status of livestock (80%), poor economic condition of family (77.5%), costly treatment of animal diseases (74.16), small land holding size (70%), low price of milk (70%), lack of knowledge about scientific management of livestock (65.83%), poor purchasing power (65.83%) and poor credit facility (65.83%) were the major constraints reported by respondents.
