Abstract

To develop a suitable communication strategy it is important to identify sources of information utilized by the livestock owners. A total of 234 respondents were interviewed having at least one adult cattle or buffalo to study information sources utilization pattern of livestock owners. Finding related to the mass media exposer, revealed that majority of livestock owners frequently utilize Television (76.07%), animal welfare camps (36.75%) and newspaper (36.32%) as a source of information. Most of the livestock owners (44.44 %) did not use radio as a source of information. In case of contact with extension workers, most of the respondents had frequent contact with Veterinary Officers (56.41%) and livestock extension officers (47%), occasional contact with University/ K.G.K. Scientist (55.56%). Majority of them reported that they never consult other livestock owners and NGO.
