Abstract

Data pertaining to first lactation record on 342 Murrah buffaloes calved and completed first lactations, maintained at cattle yard, National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal were analyzed. The mean WTDMY and mean MTDMY were 6.61±0.04 kg and 6.85±0.02 kg in first lactation. It was observed that only 23 first lactation WTDMY out of 43 WTDMY was significantly affected by season of calving whereas all first lactation WTDMY was significantly affected by year of calving. It was observed that only fifth (126th), eighth (216th), ninth (246th) and eleventh (305th) first lactation MTDMY was significantly affected by season of calving whereas all first lactation MTDMY was significantly affected by year of calving.
