Abstract

The data pertaining to traits under study were collected from history cum-pedigree sheets of Hardhenu crossbred cattle maintained at Cattle Breeding Farm, LUVAS Hisar, Haryana, India and data pertaining to antibody titer of FMD Vaccine of these animals were taken from Regional Research Center on FMD, located at LUVAS. Pre and post vaccination antibody (AB) titers against FMD vaccine were estimated by using liquid phase blocking ELISA technique. The reproduction and lactation performance traits had genetic correlations ranged from moderate negative to high positive with pre and post AB titer. The response to FMD vaccine particularly for serotypes O and A showed consistent correlation with performance traits. Response to serotype O and A had moderate to high negative genetic correlation with AFC and moderate to high positive correlation with first and second lactation traits. The phenotypic correlations of performance traits with AB titer and response were lower than the genetic correlations barring few exceptions. The FLY and SLY had moderate positive phenotypic correlation with response to all the serotypes. Association among different economic traits is essential for designing selection programmes and is useful in prediction of correlated response in different traits.
