The present study was conducted on the skin of thirty six goat embryos/ foetuses to study the contribution of epidermis and dermis in the skin of prenatal during various stages of prenatal life. The embryos/ foetuses were divided into three age groups each with twelve embryos/ foetuses viz. group-I (0-50 days), group-II (50-100 days) and group-III (100-150 days). In the foetuses of group II and III skin tissues were taken as small pieces from eight different regions of body viz. chin, face, neck, shoulder, back, abdomen, flank and thigh fixed and stained with haematoxylin and eosin. The average thicknesses of skin, epidermis and dermis in goat foetuses were 477.49±8.06 µm, 64±0.38 µm and 450.5±7.95 µm, respectively. In goat foetuses the dermal component contributed about 94% and the epidermis about 6% in the thickness of skin.  In the foetuses of group II and III the skin, dermis and epidermis had maximum average thickness in chin region. The thicknesses of skin, epidermis and dermis had highly significant correlation with gestational age as well as with each other.
