Abstract

Genomic selection of animals based on candidate genes has a major role in determining and improving the litter size. Thus the present study was conducted with an objective to identify the relative abundance of EGR2 gene in ovary, uterus, fallopian tube and placental tissues of Malabari goats (n=4) and thus to assess the role of this gene in reproduction and foetal health. Relative abundance of EGR2 mRNA was found significantly (0.01) higher in placenta followed by ovaries, uterus and fallopian tube, thus substantiating the role of EGR2 gene in foetal health and reproduction.
