The present study was conducted on twenty four adult buffalo heart (12 male and 12 female) collected from slaughter house to study the anatomical structure of heart by comparing biometric, ultrasonographic and micrometric parameters. The study revealed that the values of circumference at base and apex; thickness of left atrial, right atrial, left ventricle, right ventricle and interventricle septal walls were comparable although the ultrasonographic measurements were slightly higher than both biometrical and micrometrical measurements. Biometrically, the thickness of left, right atrial and interventricular wall was more in the female than male buffalo. The left and right ventricular wall was thickest of all the chambers and was thicker in male as compared to females. Ultrasonographically, the thickness of left and right atrial and interventricular wall was more in female than male buffalo. All the parameters were slightly more in echocardiography as compared to biometry and micrometry. The present study can be used as baseline for diagnosing various heart diseases.
