Abstract

DGAT1 gene is considered to be a very strong positional candidate gene for fat per cent of milk. The present study was conducted on 50 Hariana cattle to screen candidate lysine to alanine substitution (K232A) polymorphism significantly associated with milk production traits. The PCR product of 413 bp was digested with EaeI restriction enzyme to screen the reported mutation. All the animals were of KK genotype and found to be monomorphic. The result indicates highly conserved sequence in Hariana cattle under study.
