Abstract

In the present investigation, a total of 1725 goat’s urinary system samples were examined irrespective of age, sex and breed in various districts of Rajasthan. Out of these, 68 (3.94%) samples showing lower urinary tract (ureter, urinary bladder, urethra) affections were further examined for histopathological evaluation. The district-wise occurrence of these pathological conditions were found to be (21/461) 4.55%, (14/395) 3.54%, (16/439) 3.64% and (17/430) 3.95% cases in Udaipur, Dungarpur, Chittorgarh and Rajsamand districts, respectively. Ureteritis was recorded in 4.76%, 7.14%, 6.25% and 5.88% cases from Udaipur, Dungarpur, Chittorgarh and Rajsamand districts, respectively. Gross and histopathological changes in the ureter of goats revealed congestion, mononuclear cell infiltration, especially in the muscular layer, inflammatory exudate in the lumen and hypertrophy of transitional cell epithelium.
