Abstract
The present study was undertaken to investigate the prenatal development of thyroid glands in Surti goats in different age groups. In prenatal age intervals, the definitive topographic position of the thyroid lobes was apparently visible grossly on either side of the ventrolateral aspect of the trachea. The thyroid lobes were bean to almond-shaped and the intensity of colour differentiation from dark brown to pale brown in all the prenatal age groups. The gross biometrical parameters like length, width, thickness, weight and volume significantly increased with the advancement of fetal growth and individual development as well. The age-related changes in the biometrical values like length, width and weight of the thyroid gland were highly significant at P<0.05.
