Abstract

The present study was conducted in nine villages in the Mathura District of Uttar Pradesh, with a total of 180 farmers (20 from each village) participating in the intervention. First-hand information was collected using a structured interview schedule, and knowledge gains were measured using a knowledge test to determine the effectiveness of the capacity building intervention in knowledge gains about the scientific animal husbandry practises in the area of feeding, breeding, health care and management. The results revealed that the overall mean knowledge gain was found to be 21.28 per cent among the respondent. It was also observed that the knowledge gain was highest in health care practices (26.06) thereafter managemental interventions (25.16).  Thus there  should be regular extension intervention and efforts to motivate the farmers for enhancing the capacity buildings through the scientific animal husbandry practices in Uttar Pradesh.
