Abstract

Identification and characterization of Pasteurella multocida B:2 organisms from different suspected outbreaks of HS using P.multocida B:2 specific PCR in bovines of Haryana state was attempted. The disease was initially diagnosed by clinical symptoms then, all the blood samples were tested either directly from the culture or extracted DNA used as a template.  Out of thirty-six samples, only two could be isolated on BHI/ blood agar plate. A total of three blood samples were identified as Pasteurella multocida B:2 based on PCR, yielded a product of 590 bp by using KTSP61- KTT72 oligos. These oligos amplified the genomic DNA from B:2 serotypes obtained from cattle and buffaloes.
