Abstract
The ADAM17 gene regulates the signalling of TGF-ß and TNF-alpha that have a wide variety of functions in the reproductive system. The current study intended to analyse the expression of the ADAM17 gene in the ovary, fallopian tube and uterus of six Malabari does. For differential expression, RNA was extracted and complementary DNA synthesised. Relative quantification was performed by qPCR with GAPDH as the internal control gene. Statistical analysis revealed a significant upregulation of ADAM17 in the uterus (p<0.01) compared to the fallopian tube and ovary. This suggests that ADAM17 may influence uterine functions such as implantation, uterine remodelling and pregnancy maintenance.
