Abstract
The present study was conducted to assess the adoption of scientific breeding, feeding, healthcare, management, and marketing practices among 180 tribal goat farmers across six villages in the Manawar and Gandhwani tehsils of Dhar district, Madhya Pradesh. Data were collected using a pre-tested structured interview schedule and analysed through descriptive statistics. Findings revealed that the majority of farmers (66.11%) had a low level of adoption of recommended goat husbandry practices, while 30% showed medium adoption, and only 3.88% demonstrated high adoption. The low uptake is primarily attributed to limited awareness, financial constraints, and inadequate access to extension services. The study highlights the urgent need for targeted interventions by extension agencies and policymakers to improve awareness, build management skills, and enhance productivity and profitability among tribal goat farmers.
