Abstract

In the present study, FecGH (high fertility) polymorphism in exon 1 region of growth differentiation factor 9 (GDF9) gene was investigated using PCR-RFLP method in Muzaffarnagari sheep (n=200). The amplified fragments of the GDF9 showed 139 bp product that was digested with DdeI restriction enzyme. The results revealed only HH genotype (105 and 34 bp; 100%) with ‘H’ allele (1.0). We observed monomorphic pattern in GDF9 gene revealed that FecGH allele seems to be fixed in the screened sheep population. Consequently, we could not perform association analysis with reproduction trait.
